Oh no, not again!

Have you ever seen a stamp and an idea just springs into your mind? That’s what happened to me the first time I saw this whale – a whale falling through the sky of course! Do you recognize the reference… Oh, no. Not again!

It is of course a reference from Douglas Adams’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy…

“Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was Oh no, not again. Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the Universe than we do now.”

Crafty Pete is a huge fan, so I made this for him to hang in his study. He absolutely loves it.

The stamp sets I’ve used are:

Message in a Bottle for the whale
In the City (hostess) for the clouds
Sprinkles of Life for the flowers and leaves
Bookcase Builder for the flower pot
Labeler Alphabet for the sentiment.

Yes, it’s one of those “use everything in the craft cupboard” type of projects.

I also used the Tree Builder punch to punch out some of those little petunias.

The picture is mounted in a little 5”x7” shadow box that I got from Big W.

I wanted to add in more of what the whale was thinking, but there wasn’t room. Poor whale…

I’ve showed it to my craft team and some friends, the reaction was either an instant blank face or laughter, depending on whether they were familiar with the book.

I love making projects that make people smile. Cards are one way but making decor items to brighten the walls of someone’s home is another way. I’ve got a few other decor items I’ve made recently, which I’ll share soon.
