For the second project of the class we made a fun little birthday themed bookmark using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch from the Occasions Catalogue.

The Scalloped Tag Topper Punch can be used to make any length tag or topper (or bookmark) up to a width of 5.1 cm. We used the Island Indigo cardstock again for the bookmark base.

A small piece of designer series paper from the Birthday Basics set was used to add a splash of colour on top of the bookmark base. I used the colourful dots paper from the DSP set (while some chose to use the floral Crisp Cantaloupe side of the paper). The paper was cut just smaller than the base and stuck on using the snail adhesive.

The cake image is from the Embellished Events stamp set which we used for the thank you card. This image was inked with Island Indigo onto Whisper White cardstock which was then cut by hand (a challenge to get straight lines!) leaving a small border around the cake image. This was then stuck on to the bookmark.

To jazz the bookmark up a little we used some baker’s twine and a designer button. We chose a button from the Regals designer buttons – the Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler or of course Island Indigo coloured buttons work well. The buttons were teamed up with either Island Indigo or Calypso Coral baker’s twine. After threading one length of baker’s twine through the button and tieing it in a bow, the button was stuck to the bookmark with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. A second piece of baker’s twine was used to finish the bookmark off.
